If you’ve ever seen someone at the gym who really knows how to “work” a rope, no doubt you’ve noticed how it attracts a lot of attention. There’s something about the speed, power and sound of the rope that makes it visually dynamic and even mesmerizing to watch. The visual appeal of “extreme” performance jump rope is one of the main reasons we’ve made a lot of television appearances. You’ll be sweating bullets, but you’ll never look better doing it.
Another great thing about jumping rope is that you can do it by yourself or with a group. That gives you more flexibility to decide what kind of workout you want. If you prefer training by yourself, go ahead and jump on you own. If you’re the type who likes working out with other people, jump with your spouse or kids. Jump rope classes are also springing up at gyms all around the country. Classes are a great place to find other people who can motivate you and vice versa. In my experience, teaching each other tricks and the camaraderie you get from jumping with fellow ropers is a beautiful thing. And you just can’t beat the enthusiasm that you’ll find in a high-energy jump rope class. It doesn't matter if your a begginer with a jump rope or have been at it for years - jump ropes is easy to use!
Men, who have traditionally been reluctant to participate in group exercise classes, are flocking to RopeSport. Maybe men like to imagine themselves as a boxer in training? Or maybe they’re attracted to the powerful and explosive nature of jumping? Whatever the reasons, the fact is that jumping rope is one of the only jump rope exercises that appeals equally to both sexes. In a RopeSport jump ropes class it’s not uncommon for a 50/50 ratio of men to women, something that’s virtually unheard of in group exercise environments.
One of the truly wonderful and unique things about RopeSport is that kids love it too!I often describe our style of jumping, FreeStyle JumpRoping, as “MTV with a jump rope.” It’s one of the only exercises that kids will automatically gravitate towards because they find it self-motivational. Throw a bag of ropes into a room full of kids and within minutes they’ll be jumping and having a great time. With numerous studies concluding that children are far too sedentary, a major contributing factor to the virtual epidemic of childhood obesity and diabetes currently plaguing the U.S. (and much of the industrialized world), RopeSport can truly make a difference. It is a wonderful activity for the entire family – mom, dad and junior.
Last but definitely not least, jumping rope is incredibly fun! Due to the wide variety of jumps and tricks that you can incorporate into your workout, even as a beginner, your RopeSport workout will always stay challenging and motivational. Jumping rope appeals to the kid in all of us – who doesn’t have fond memories of jumping on the local school playground? It is a totally unique exercise in that it blends athleticism and art. It allows jumpers to be as creative as they want to be, whether it’s inventing new jumps or jump combinations. And because you can always progress to a more advanced level, your RopeSport workout will never grow boring or monotonous. It really is a blast!
